Position Overview
The Applications Engineer will support pre-sales engineering activities including equipment selection, system sizing, and cost estimating. This individual will work closely with internal engineering teams and customers to develop accurate proposals and recommend tailored solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate customer requirements and recommend appropriate equipment solutions
- Perform equipment sizing calculations and technical analysis
- Develop cost estimates for custom-engineered systems
- Prepare proposals, quotes, and supporting technical documentation
- Create conceptual layout drawings using CAD tools
- Support sales presentations and customer discussions
- Maintain project data within CRM and internal systems
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams
- Participate in occasional travel to customer sites as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or related Engineering field (or equivalent experience with food equipment.)
- 3+ years of experience in applications engineering, estimating, or sales engineering
- Strong understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamics, or process systems
- Experience with CAD (2D/3D) preferred
- Ability to interpret P&IDs and process flow diagrams
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience with CRM, SAP, or similar systems is a plus
