We are currently seeking a Custodian to join our housekeeping team. This position plays a key role in maintaining a safe, functional, and well‑kept environment for our residents, guests, visitors, and staff.
This position is responsible for ensuring the safety, well-being and happiness of the residents and creating an environment where residents can thrive and reach their full potential. Responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining the cleanliness of assigned buildings on Marbridge campus. Must be able to physically handle and operate standard cleaning and maintenance equipment including floor buffers, wet vacuums, cleaning carts, brooms, mops and buckets.
Shift Available:
- Monday – Friday, 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM

Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of one year experience working in the capacity of custodian or floor technician.
- Basic math skills are required in order to manage department expenses
- Must be able to physically handle and operate standard cleaning and maintenance equipment including floor buffers, wet vacuums, cleaning carts, brooms, mops and buckets.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
- Must be able to assist Residents in making beds, straightening closets and drawers which require the ability to bend and reach.
- Must be able to use a broom, mop, vacuum cleaner, buffers, wet vacuums and cleaning supplies such as Windex and comet.
- Must be able to frequently lift approximately twenty five pounds due to lifting laundry bags, straightening closets, or storing resident’s seasonal clothing.
- May be needed on occasion to assist in lifting objects or residents between 50-100 pounds in order to lift, move and transports residents, using proper body mechanics or lifting devices for accident prevention.
- Requires walking extensively to and from various locations while making rounds. Requires standing, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and reaching overhead regularly.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and plan routine deep cleaning of the dormitories, laundry rooms, other common areas.
- Communicate openly with Director and other appropriate staff to ensure that regularly scheduled deep cleaning and floor maintenance are completed as scheduled. Schedule and plan routine cleaning schedules.
- Deep clean bathrooms, commodes, sinks, bathtubs, carpets, vents, windows, blinds, walls and doors as scheduled.
- Strip, wax and buff tile floors according to schedule and as needed.
- Attend staff meetings, in-service training, conferences and other activities
- Maintain equipment and supplies to ensure adequate availability while maintaining budgetary compliance.
- Conduct a walk-through of buildings on a regular schedule; ensure assigned buildings are maintained in a clean and neat manner each day.
- Plan and maintain inventory. Calculate costs when ordering and prepare invoices for payment.
- Assist with other organizational activities as assigned by the Director
- Perform similar job-related duties as assigned
