Duties
- Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and understanding throughout their visit.
- Perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy (blood draws), medication administration, and basic wound care under supervision.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring accurate documentation of patient information, medical histories, and treatment plans.
- Support medical office management by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance details, and handling patient correspondence.
- Maintain medical records in compliance with privacy regulations and ensure proper ICD coding for diagnoses.
- Assist in outpatient procedures or inpatient care settings, including Level I Trauma Center or Level II Trauma Center experiences when applicable.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical office settings with knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and ICD coding.
- Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or medication administration are a plus.
- Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately in diverse healthcare environments.
- Experience working in dermatology, urgent care, hospital medicine, emergency medicine, geriatrics, or outpatient clinics is highly desirable.
- Inpatient or hospital experience at Level I or Level II trauma centers is advantageous.
- Ability to perform clinical duties such as vital signs collection, intake procedures, and basic medical documentation accurately.
