The SEMC Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA) will play a critical role in delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care within both the Family Practice Clinic and Emergency Department across Sleepy Eye Medical Center, the Morgan Clinic, and the Fairfax Clinic. This position is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, treating, and managing patients across the lifespan, from routine primary and preventive care to urgent and emergent medical conditions.
The NP/PA will work collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to provide timely, high-quality, evidence-based care in a rural healthcare setting. The position requires strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple patients in a fast-paced environment.
The NP/PA will provide care for newborns through geriatric patients, develop individualized treatment plans, order and interpret diagnostic testing, prescribe medications and therapies within applicable regulations and organizational policies, perform approved office and emergency procedures, and provide patient and family education.
This position includes Family Practice Clinic responsibilities as well as scheduled Emergency Department shifts and on-call rotation. The NP/PA will also coordinate referrals, transfers, and continuity of care when patients require a higher level of care. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to patient-centered care, community health, and meeting the diverse healthcare needs of a rural patient population.
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
Current Minnesota Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in good standing.
Current DEA registration and prescriptive authority, as applicable.
Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or equivalent, as applicable. Must maintain current certifications required under Sleepy Eye Medical Center Medical Staff Bylaws, including applicable:
- BLS
- ACLS
- ATLS and/or CALS
- NRP or PALS
Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in Family Practice, Primary Care, Emergency Medicine, or a combination thereof.
Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Excellent clinical assessment, diagnostic, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients in a fast-paced environment.
Commitment to patient-centered care and community health.
Ability to adapt to the diverse healthcare needs of a rural patient population.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior Emergency Room or Urgent Care experience.
Experience practicing in a rural healthcare or Critical Access Hospital setting.
Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) certification or willingness to obtain.
Experience performing common office and emergency procedures.

The provider will participate in scheduled clinic hours, Emergency Department shifts, and on-call rotation and will contribute to continuity of care through referrals, patient transfers, education, chronic disease management, and coordination with healthcare resources.
