Job Summary
As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will work under the supervision of licensed occupational therapists to provide rehabilitative services to patients with various conditions. Your role will involve assisting patients in regaining independence in performing daily activities.
Responsibilities
- Implement care plans developed by occupational therapists
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) to improve their functional abilities
- Monitor and report patient progress to the supervising occupational therapist
- Provide therapeutic exercises and activities to enhance patient outcomes
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Work with patients across different settings such as clinics, inpatient facilities, home health, and skilled nursing facilities
Requirements
- Certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant
- Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with various treatment settings including geriatrics, pediatrics, acute care, and skilled nursing facilities
- Experience in assisting with care plans and implementing therapeutic interventions
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Understanding of the importance of maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards
