Position Overview
The Bartender plays a key role in creating memorable guest experiences through exceptional service and expertly crafted beverages. This individual embodies AG’s spirit of Afro-Caribbean excellence — balancing professionalism, creativity, and energy in a fast-paced upscale environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with AG’s recipes and presentation standards.
- Maintain a deep knowledge of the cocktail, wine, and spirits menu — including Afro-Caribbean-inspired ingredients and flavor profiles.
- Deliver attentive, engaging, and polished service while building rapport with guests.
- Manage bar setup, restocking, and closing duties efficiently.
- Monitor guest consumption and ensure responsible alcohol service in compliance with DC laws and AG policies.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and visual appeal of the bar area at all times.
- Collaborate with servers and barbacks to ensure timely and accurate orders.
- Upsell specialty cocktails, premium bottles, and lounge experiences to enhance guest satisfaction and revenue.
- Support special events, tastings, and happy hour activations as needed.
- Handle POS transactions accurately and responsibly.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of bartending experience in an upscale restaurant or lounge environment.
- Strong mixology and cocktail presentation skills; knowledge of Caribbean and African-inspired flavors is a plus.
- Excellent communication and multitasking abilities.
- Professional appearance and demeanor; must reflect AG’s luxury brand image.
- Must be 21 years or older and hold a valid DC Alcohol Server Certification.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
