Western Washington Surf Coaching Opportunities
Western Washington Surf is one of the most progressive youth soccer clubs in the Pacific Northwest. With regions spanning from Everett to Tacoma, WWSurf provides teams and training opportunities for players ages 4 to 19, from beginner to elite levels.
We are currently recruiting dedicated Staff Coaches, Head Coaches, and experienced Directors who love the game, are committed to continuing their coaching education, and prioritize the care, well-being, and development of their players above all else.

Head Coach positions are currently available in the following areas:
- Issaquah
- Bellevue
- Snohomish
- Puyallup
WWSurf Head Coach Candidate Requirements
- 1+ year of coaching experience
- Minimum USSF Grassroots Coaching License or equivalent preferred. If not already completed, coaches will be expected to obtain it within their 3 months of coaching.
- Reliable vehicle
- Currently living within 60 miles of a WWSurf club location
- Willing to work weekday evenings and weekends, based on the team schedule. Premier teams typically train 2 times per week, while Academy teams typically train 3 times per week.
- Availability for training sessions, games, and tournaments
Skill Sets and Attributes of a Surf Coach
- Strong ability to work with Directors, parents, and fellow Head Coaches to prioritize player safety, development, and enjoyment of the game
- Ability to understand and execute on-field lesson plans
- Ability to communicate basic technical, tactical, psycho-social, and emotional concepts to players
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong communication skills in dynamic or complicated situations
- Punctuality
- Strong work ethic
- Willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to the club culture
WWSurf Coach Responsibilities
Western Washington Surf is not aiming to be the status quo for youth soccer in the Pacific Northwest. We strive to set standards by applying ourselves in areas where other clubs may not.
Surf Coach responsibilities vary by role, but basic responsibilities include:
- Communicating clearly and professionally with players, parents, Directors, coaching staff, and the administrative team
- Being punctual and dependable for all trainings, games, and club responsibilities
- Providing proper supervision for players before, during, and after sessions
- Applying yourself to continued education and player development
- Supporting fellow coaches and contributing to the overall growth of the club
- Helping create a positive, competitive, and development-focused environment for players
WWSurf Coach Compensation
Head Coaches are paid a monthly fee that covers training sessions, matches, tournaments, and administrative work expected of club Head Coaches.
- Monthly Head Coach fees can range from $650–$1,500 per team, based on coaching license level and experience.
- Per-session rates for work outside of Head Coach responsibilities can range from $21–$50 per hour
WWSurf Coach Benefits:
- Receive Head Coach fees for 12 months while assigned to a Surf roster
- Set dates for paid vacation
- Full-time staff may be eligible for reimbursement for USSF Coaching Courses
- Additional benefits as qualified
