Position Summary
The Reggie Lewis Front Desk Assistant supports the daily operations of the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center and serves as a first point of contact for members, guests, and visitors. The student provides professional customer service, supports membership services and front-desk operations, assists with registrations and payment processing, responds to general questions, and helps maintain a welcoming, organized, and safe environment. This Level II position develops applied experience in customer service, business operations, membership services, administrative systems, communication, and professional problem-solving.
Learn & Earn Responsibilities
- Customer Service & Front Desk Operations

Greet members, guests, and visitors and provide courteous, helpful assistance.

Check in members and verify that memberships are current and active.

Direct members, guests, and visitors to appropriate rooms, programs, events, or staff.

Answer and direct telephone calls professionally and promptly.

Respond to general questions and refer individuals to the appropriate staff member or department when needed.
Membership & Business Operations
- Assist with new membership registrations and renewals.

Support approved payment-processing activities and maintain accurate records.

Learn and use membership-management, registration, and payment-processing systems.
-
Handle member and visitor information with discretion and confidentiality.
Facility & Program Support
- Support membership services, programming, events, and front-desk operations.

Monitor the lobby and front-desk areas to help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming environment.

Communicate operational concerns or unusual situations to the appropriate supervisor or staff member.

Follow established Reggie Lewis Center and RCC policies and procedures.
Learn & Earn Eligibility
- Currently enrolled at Roxbury Community College for the applicable placement period.

Meet RCC Learn & Earn eligibility requirements for the approved placement.

Maintain good academic standing and any enrollment requirements applicable to the placement.

Complete all required student-employment, onboarding, and payroll documentation before beginning work.

Work only the approved Learn & Earn schedule and duties assigned by the designated supervisor.

Funding & Scheduling Structure
Learn & Earn placement(s) are authorized for this role. Scheduling is based on the approved experiential-learning assignment, operational needs, and the student's academic commitments. RCC-funded placements are subject to applicable student-employment work-hour limits, with a maximum of 18.5 hours per week.
Supervision & Performance
The Reggie Lewis Front Desk Assistant reports to Demetris Pringle and/or Coreen St. Jules and works in coordination with Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center staff. Students will receive training on front-desk procedures, membership systems, payment processing, confidentiality, and applicable facility procedures before independently completing assigned tasks. Students will receive regular supervision, feedback, and professional-development opportunities. Performance concerns will be addressed through RCC's progressive intervention process.
Advancement
Students who demonstrate strong performance, reliability, systems proficiency, independent problem-solving, project ownership, and peer leadership may become candidates for future Level III lead, operations, membership, or program-support positions when such opportunities are available.
