An established Machinery Manufacturing firm are looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their Team!
Two companies have merged almost 4 decades ago to provide a suite of Swiss-type turning centers. This venture represents the malgamation of two of Japan’s largest and most highly regarded companies.
The Senior Electrical Design Engineer role offers hands-on involvement in the complete project lifecycle—from concept and design through programming, commissioning, and customer support. Engineers in this position work with PLCs, motion control, robotics, vision systems, and custom automation technologies while contributing directly to the success of customer operations.
Responsibilities:

Develop conceptual designs, electrical layouts, and engineering documentation based on project specifications, customer requirements, and operational objectives.

Design industrial control panels, machine control systems, power distribution systems, and electrical enclosures.

Create and maintain electrical design packages using AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical, including schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, ladder logic drawings, one-line diagrams, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).

Design, document, and support electro-mechanical systems, instrumentation, control panels, junction boxes, skids, and integrated automation equipment.

Specify and select electrical, instrumentation, automation, and control components appropriate for project requirements.

Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC ladder logic programs for industrial machinery and automated systems.

Design and implement automation solutions utilizing motion control, servo systems, robotics, vision systems, and CNC equipment.

Integrate machine safety systems, including emergency stops, safety interlocks, and related safeguarding controls.

Evaluate existing designs and recommend improvements to enhance performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.

Design, test, validate, and troubleshoot electrical circuits, instrumentation, and control systems.

Read, interpret, and generate electrical prints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.

Provide technical support and troubleshooting for electrical, controls, instrumentation, and automation systems both remotely and at customer sites.

Coordinate project activities with Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Production, Quality, and Service teams.

Support equipment testing, commissioning, startup activities, and customer acceptance testing.

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to products, processes, and system performance.
Requirements:
-
Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent industry experience will be considered.

Minimum 5 – 8+ years of experience in electrical design, controls engineering, industrial automation, instrumentation, process controls, power distribution, or related electro-technical disciplines.

Minimum 5 years of experience using AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical for electrical design and documentation.

Proven experience with PLC ladder logic programming and troubleshooting.

Experience with PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron, Fanuc, Direct Logic, or similar industrial control systems.

Ability to read, interpret, and create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings.

Experience designing and documenting industrial control panels, electrical assemblies, and automation systems.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills involving electrical, controls, automation, and instrumentation systems.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Capable of working independently while maintaining high-quality engineering standards.

Willingness to travel up to 25% for commissioning, technical support, troubleshooting, and customer-site activities.

Some international travel to Canada and Mexico is required.

Must possess a valid passport or be able to obtain and maintain one for business travel purposes.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with CNC machine controls and high-voltage industrial equipment.

Knowledge of motion control systems, servo drives, and servo motors.

Experience integrating robotics and machine vision systems.

Familiarity with industrial safety controls and machine guarding requirements.

Experience supporting manufacturing, automation, or process control environments.
-
Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
-
Working knowledge of: SolidWorks, Visual Basic, and .NET applications\
Salary: 52-56/hr + Bonus
In-person position based on a standard 35-hour work week with additional hours and opportunity for overtime as needed.
Overtime Pay for over 40 hours!
