Description:
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operations of multiple pieces of construction equipment such as excavators, skid steers, trenchers, and compactors. Experience with blades, forklifts, backhoes, and dozers are a plus. Also, must be willing to learn the pile driver (Gayk, GRT, and PD-10). The operator takes the initiative on site and is willing to put in manual labor when necessary. Work assignment durations are between 2 and 6 months. This position travels 100% of the time.
Main Responsibilities:
· Overall project Safety, Quality, and Efficiency
· Mentor and train new operators in the field.
· Have complete knowledge of the equipment that you are operating.
· Coordinate & manage all on-site trenching, backfill, and compaction operations.
Other Responsibilities:
· Review drawings for technical specifications
· Perform accurate material take offs
· Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner
· Perform daily maintenance and conduct pre-operational checks on equipment.
· Performs preventive maintenance inspections, routine service reminders, and minor repairs on equipment.
· Work with Project Superintendent, Foremen, and field personnel to bring project in on time and budget.
· Able to excavate clean trenches, backfill, and compact
· Ensure compaction of trenches meet site requirements (usually 95%)
· Assist electricians with conduit and equipment installation
· Assist with material offload and material management
· Promote and comply with federal, state and company safety policies and procedures
· Willing and able to perform manual labor
· All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
· Minimum 3 years of heavy equipment operating experience
· Can confidently operate all equipment on site
· Flexibility to travel from project to project for extended durations
· Ability to read detailed civil drawings
· Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
· Time management – able to turn in paperwork in a timely manner (JHA’s, toolbox talks, timecards, daily reports, etc.)
· Works well in a team setting
· Willing and able to work on any task onsite
· Overtime required based on project needs
· Clean driving record and means of transportation
· OSHA 10 certified
· Pass pre-employment and random drug screenings

Pay: $38.00 - $40.00 per hour
