Position Summary:
The Port Laborer supports daily port and terminal operations by assisting with cargo handling, site maintenance, and general labor tasks. This role plays a key part in maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-organized work environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and able to perform physical work in a fast-paced outdoor setting while collaborating effectively with team members.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Perform general cleanup and maintenance of docks, terminal areas, and equipment.

Assist with loading and unloading vessels, including staging materials and supporting cargo operations.

Operate or assist with light and heavy equipment under supervision.

Support maintenance teams with inspection, repair, and upkeep of equipment and terminal infrastructure.

Assist with line handling, cargo securing, and vessel preparation for docking and departure.

Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Identify and report unsafe conditions, hazards, or equipment issues to supervisors.

Maintain organized work areas to support efficient and safe operations.

Perform additional duties as assigned to support terminal and operational needs.
Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

Ability to lift, carry, and move materials up to 50 pounds.

Ability to work safely in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment.

Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions with attention to detail.
Preferred Experience:

Prior experience in construction, industrial, port, or marine environments.

OSHA 10 certification.

Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or ability to obtain.

Experience operating forklifts or other material handling equipment.

Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical labor for extended periods.

Ability to work in outdoor conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, rain, and snow.

Required use of PPE (hard hat, safety vest, steel‑toe boots) in operational areas.
