Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) with ICU specialization to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this critical role, you will provide expert nursing care to critically ill patients within the Intensive Care Unit, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, comfort, and recovery. Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans for ICU patients based on physiological data and medical history.
- Administer medications, including IV infusions and injections, adhering strictly to aseptic techniques and hospital protocols.
- Monitor vital signs continuously, utilizing telemetry systems and other advanced monitoring equipment to detect early signs of deterioration.
- Manage airway devices such as ventilators, perform tube feedings, and conduct respiratory assessments to optimize patient ventilation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate complex procedures like cardiac catheterization, dialysis, or trauma interventions.
- Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families regarding treatment plans, post-discharge care, and recovery processes.
- Respond swiftly to emergency situations in accordance with critical care response procedures, including trauma or acute pain management.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives aligned with NCQA standards and infection control protocols.
- Assist in discharge planning by evaluating patient needs for long-term care, hospice & palliative medicine, or home health services.
Requirements
- Valid RN license with current registration; previous ICU experience is essential.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Extensive knowledge of critical care practices including ventilator management, aseptic technique, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and laboratory specimen processing.
- Experience working in Level I or Level II trauma centers preferred; familiarity with trauma medicine is highly desirable.
- Strong clinical skills in airway management, medication administration, IV insertion, phlebotomy, and suturing.
- Knowledge of specialty areas such as cardiology (including cardiac catheterization), infectious disease care, geriatrics, behavioral health, and pediatric intensive care (PICU) is advantageous.
- Ability to perform comprehensive physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to triage effectively in urgent situations; experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays is a plus.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety standards including HIPAA compliance and infection control protocols.
