Math Teacher — Ohr Zahava School
We are seeking a passionate, dynamic Math Teacher who brings experience, patience, creativity, and a genuine love of children to the classroom.
Our ideal teacher knows that mathematics is more than worksheets and right answers. We want someone who can inspire curiosity, develop strong mathematical thinking, and help children experience the satisfaction of truly understanding a concept.
About the Role
The Math Teacher will work with students across multiple age and ability levels in our small, highly personalized learning environment. Responsibilities include:
- Providing engaging, high-quality math instruction in small groups
- Assessing students to understand their individual strengths, needs, and areas for growth
- Providing direct instruction and targeted intervention when students need additional support
- Creating thoughtful lesson plans that build strong foundational skills while making mathematics meaningful
- Designing hands-on explorations, projects, enrichment activities, and field trips that connect mathematics to the real world
- Helping students develop number sense, problem-solving skills, mathematical reasoning, accuracy, and confidence
- Collaborating closely with teachers and school leadership to support each child
- Documenting student progress and communicating areas of growth or concern
- Creating a classroom environment where students are comfortable taking intellectual risks, making mistakes, asking questions, and trying again
Who We Are
Ohr Zahava is a small Jewish microschool dedicated to helping children love learning.
Our students explore the arts, sciences, mathematics, literature, history, and Jewish studies in an environment where children are known as individuals.
We believe rigorous learning does not require a stressful classroom. We strive to instill a sense of calm, trust, curiosity, and pride in our work.
Because our classes are intentionally small, our teachers have the opportunity to truly know their students, adapt instruction to their needs, and create memorable learning experiences that would be difficult to replicate in a traditional classroom.
Who We're Looking For
We would love to meet a teacher who:
- Loves children and loves mathematics
- Is patient, warm, energetic, and dependable
- Has experience teaching math and understands how children develop mathematical skills
- Enjoys working with students in small groups and differentiating instruction
- Can recognize when a child is struggling and determine what support is needed
- Is creative and enjoys bringing learning beyond the textbook
- Creates organized, purposeful lesson plans
- Works collaboratively and positively with colleagues
- Holds students to high expectations while providing the support they need to succeed
- Wants to create lessons, projects, explorations, and experiences that students will remember
Above all, we are looking for someone who wants children to leave math class thinking:
“I understand this. I can do this. And I want to learn more.”
Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
