A well-established construction firm with a strong track record of delivering high-quality commercial and multifamily projects is seeking an experienced Superintendent to join their team in Baton Rouge, LA. This is an exciting opportunity to take the lead on a large-scale commercial project with an anticipated duration of 24 months, serving as the primary field leader and driving project success from the ground up.
The Opportunity
The Superintendent will report to the General Superintendent and carry full accountability for all field operations on a ground-up commercial project — including ground-up shopping strip/retail construction. The ideal candidate brings proven lead superintendent experience on multifamily and commercial projects, a command of field operations, and the leadership presence to drive schedule, safety, quality, and team performance.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the lead Superintendent with full accountability for safety, quality, schedule, and overall field performance
- Manage and oversee all project field operations, including subcontractors and self-perform labor
- Collaborate closely with the project manager and project management team to ensure project success across financial, schedule, quality, and safety standards
- Develop work plans for subcontractors and coordinate site logistics from job startup through project closeout
- Create, manage, and implement the project schedule in conjunction with the project management team
- Oversee three-week look-ahead schedules, daily reports, and weekly owner reports
- Conduct and participate in weekly subcontractor coordination meetings and OAC meetings; ensure meeting minutes are produced and distributed
- Review submittals, shop drawings, and drawing modifications as required
- Monitor and drive solution-based RFIs generated in Procore
- Verify field measurements, subcontractor layout, and installation methods for compliance with contract documents and approved submittals
- Review all rigging, scaffolding, and hoisting plans and equipment
- Establish field staffing and equipment needs; ensure sufficient and qualified field labor is on-site
- Mentor and develop assistant superintendents and field personnel
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized jobsite at all times; perform weekly safety, SWPPP, and equipment checklists in Procore
- Participate in preconstruction services as needed
Qualifications
- 5+ years of field supervisory experience in multifamily and/or commercial construction — ground-up shopping strip/retail experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated lead superintendent experience on multifamily product types (wrap, podium, garden) and/or commercial ground-up construction with project values in excess of $30M
- Experience with wood-framed construction
- Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, MS Office, and CPM scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera, or similar)
- Extensive knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work
- Knowledge of crane and hoisting safety, scaffolding, flagging, and rigging
- OSHA 30-Hour certification required; CPR & First Aid certification preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent field experience
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to manage conflict and build positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project teams
Candidates must have experience in both multifamily and commercial construction to be considered for this role.
Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
