At Responsive Centers for Kids, we are seeking a compassionate and skilled Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with a passion for working with children and adolescents to join our multidisciplinary team. This role focuses on delivering developmentally appropriate, family-centered psychiatric care to youth across a broad range of emotional and behavioral health needs.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Assessment:
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric and behavioral health assessments for children and adolescents, incorporating developmental, psychosocial, academic, and family-system considerations.
- Diagnose mental health conditions using DSM-5 criteria and collaborate with the treatment team to create individualized, age-appropriate treatment plans.
Medication Management:
- Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications for children and adolescents, ensuring safe and evidence-based pediatric psychopharmacology practices.
- Monitor treatment effectiveness, side effects, growth and development considerations, and adjust medications as clinically indicated.
- Educate patients and caregivers on medication purpose, expected outcomes, risks, and adherence strategies.
Family & Systems Collaboration:
- Engage parents, guardians, and caregivers as active partners in treatment planning and education.
- Provide guidance and psychoeducation to families on diagnosis, treatment options, and behavioral support strategies.
dTMS & Advanced Treatments (If Applicable):
- Provide clinical oversight and support for adolescent patients undergoing dTMS treatment (as clinically appropriate and per protocol).
- Collaborate with the dTMS team to ensure treatments are delivered safely, effectively, and in alignment with patient developmental needs.
Patient & Caregiver Education:
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, coping strategies, and wellness promotion.
- Offer ongoing support and referrals to community resources as needed to reinforce therapeutic progress.
Clinical Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation within the electronic health record.
- Ensure adherence to state, federal, and ethical guidelines, including consent, confidentiality, and minor-specific regulations.
Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing with specialization in Psychiatric-Mental Health.
- Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner with PMHNP certification.
- Experience treating children and adolescents in a psychiatric or behavioral health setting strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of developmental psychology, pediatric psychopharmacology, and family systems care.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
- Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered, and evidence-based care.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $125,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
