Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optician to join our private practice healthcare team. In this vital role, you will assist patients in selecting and fitting eyewear, dispense spectacle lenses, and provide exceptional customer service. Your expertise will help ensure patients receive accurate prescriptions, comfortable fittings, and comprehensive optical care. Responsibilities
- Assist patients with selecting eyewear frames that suit their style, face shape, and prescription needs while ensuring proper fit and comfort.
- Dispense spectacle lenses accurately according to prescriptions, including adjustments for optimal vision correction.
- Conduct eyewear fittings, frame adjustments, and repairs to ensure proper alignment and comfort.
- Utilize optical laboratory experience to verify lens specifications and communicate with labs for special orders or corrections.
- Operate POS systems and cash registers efficiently during sales transactions while maintaining accuracy in billing and records.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries, explaining lens options, and educating on eye health and eyewear maintenance.
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies and adhere to HIPAA regulations when handling medical records and patient information.
Requirements
- Proven experience in optical retail or clinical settings with knowledge of ophthalmology practices.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Revolution EHR.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to eye health, anatomy, physiology, and laboratory procedures.
- Knowledge of health regulation policies including HIPAA, state healthcare regulations, and clinic safety protocols.
- Experience with spectacle lens dispensing, eyewear fittings, frame adjustments, and optical laboratory processes.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for prescriptions, sales transactions, and inventory management.
- Excellent customer service skills with a professional demeanor; ability to communicate clearly with diverse patient populations including pediatrics and senior care clients.
- Competency in using POS systems, medical coding for billing purposes, and managing medical records securely.
