Respiratory Therapist – RRT / Adult & NICU

Schedule: Nights | 3x12s | 6:30 PM–7:00 AM
Hours: 36 hours/week
Weekend: Every Other Weekend

Pay
Up to $1,764/week gross
$49/hour blended rate
$21/hour taxable
$1,008/week stipend for eligible travelers
Local Rate: $43/hour
Position Highlights
- 18-week travel Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) assignment
- Night shift, 3x12-hour schedule
- 2 years of recent RRT experience required
- Must have experience in both Adult Critical Care and NICU
- At least 1 completed travel assignment required
- Float between Adult and NICU patient populations
- Every-other-weekend coverage required
- Holiday coverage expected
- No on-call requirement
- Cerner charting experience required
- High-acuity respiratory care in a short-term acute-care environment
HARD STOP Requirements
- 2 years of RRT experience required
- Recent experience within the last 7 years
- Experience in Adult Critical Care AND NICU
- At least 1 previous travel assignment completed
- BLS required
- CRT credential required
- Maryland respiratory therapist license required
- Cerner experience required
- Must be comfortable floating between adult and neonatal populations
- Strong ABG drawing and interpretation skills required
- Must be experienced with mechanical ventilation
- Must be comfortable with airway management and suctioning
Required Certifications & Licensure
- BLS
- CRT
- Maryland State License
- RRT credential preferred
- ACLS preferred
- NRP preferred
- PALS preferred
Clinical Experience
Required experience includes:
- Adult critical care
- NICU
- Mechanical ventilation
- Ventilator management
- BiPAP and CPAP
- High-flow nasal cannula
- Trach collar
- Airway management
- Endotracheal tube suctioning
- Extubation
- Nasal and oral airway placement
- Pulmonary hygiene
- Sputum specimen collection
- Tracheostomy care and suctioning
- Nebulizer treatments
- Aerosol setups
- Medication delivery systems
- ABG collection and interpretation
- Troubleshooting high-pressure ventilator alarms
- Weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Assistance with high-risk deliveries
- Umbilical blood gases
Ventilator Experience
Experience with the following equipment is required:
- Dräger V500
- Dräger VN500
- Servo U
Respiratory Medications
Experience with respiratory medications and therapies such as:
- Albuterol
- Atrovent
- Combivent
- Flovent
- Inhaled steroids
- Isuprel
- Lidocaine
- Perforomist
- Pulmicort
- Racemic epinephrine
- Spiriva
- Terbutaline
- Tobramycin
- Xopenex
Additional experience with inhaled Flolan, nitric oxide, Mucomyst, ketamine, bicarbonate, and theophylline is preferred.
Scheduling & Contract Information
- Shift: Nights, 6:30 PM–7:00 AM
- Schedule: 3x12s
- Contract: 18 weeks
- Weekend: Every other weekend
- Call: None
- Float: Adult and NICU
- Orientation: 36 hours
- No RTO during the first 2 weeks
- Maximum RTO: 7 days for a 13-week equivalent period; RTO must be disclosed at submission
Compliance Requirements
- Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment
- References must support at least 2 years of experience within the previous 3 years
- Labs and required appointment must be completed within 48 hours of signing
- Required modules must be completed within one week of signing
- Clinical clearance requirements apply before starting
- Candidates must be comfortable proceeding without a guaranteed manager interview
- Local status is determined using the candidate's address and driver's license
- Candidates within the applicable local radius are eligible only at the local rate
- Previous employees of the health system must meet the applicable separation requirement before returning as travelers
Additional Information
- COVID-19 vaccination is not required
- Flu vaccination is required with no exemptions
- Patient population includes neonates, infants, adults, and geriatrics
- Teaching hospital experience is preferred
- Community hospital experience is preferred
- Level I or Level II trauma experience is preferred
- Emergency Department experience is preferred
- Bronchoscopy experience is preferred
- Must be comfortable providing respiratory care across both adult and neonatal settings
