Position Summary
This position works as a member of a custodial team providing janitorial and cleaning services at a federal worksite. Team members are responsible for maintaining clean, sanitary, and safe environments in accordance with contract standards, safety regulations, and organizational expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clean assigned areas according to established procedures and work schedules
- Perform routine custodial duties to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
- Operate and maintain janitorial equipment and supplies appropriately
- Perform floor-care duties including buffing, stripping, waxing, and carpet cleaning as assigned
- Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or operational issues to the Crew Supervisor
- Request supplies and equipment for assigned work areas as needed
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment while following all safety procedures and work rules
- Participate in training related to custodial procedures, equipment use, and safety practices
- Perform other related duties as assigned within the scope of the position
Examples of Routine Work
Routine work may include, but is not limited to:

Sweeping, dusting, dust mopping, and wet mopping floors
- Vacuuming rugs and carpeted areas
- Stripping, waxing, buffing, and polishing floors
- Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors
- Restocking restroom supplies
- Cleaning windows, glass surfaces, walls, stairwells, and elevators
- Dusting and cleaning furniture and fixtures
- Shampooing and extracting carpets
- Emptying trash and replacing liners
- Operating power equipment such as buffers and auto-scrubbers
- Laundering cleaning materials such as mop heads and cloths
- Salting sidewalks and entryways during winter weather conditions

Shift Information

Standard shift length: 8 hours (part-time schedules may vary)
- 30-minute unpaid lunch break
- Two paid 15-minute breaks

Qualifications

Knowledge of commercial janitorial cleaning techniques and equipment preferred
- Working knowledge of floor-care procedures, including floor stripping/waxing, carpet cleaning, and operation of related equipment, or willingness and ability to learn these skills through training
- Ability to safely operate custodial equipment and tools
- Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver up to 50 pounds with or without assistive equipment
- Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Must successfully complete and pass a Criminal Background Investigation
