Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is seeking an experienced and dedicated surveyor (Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) preferred) to serve as Surveying and Geomatics Program Director within the School of Engineering. This position provides leadership and oversight for the university’s Surveying and Geomatics Program, ensuring academic excellence, program growth, and alignment with professional standards and industry needs.
The ideal candidate will bring a balance of practical field experience, proven leadership ability, and a genuine passion for teaching and mentoring. The Program Director will be an approachable, relatable leader who can effectively connect with students, faculty, and professionals while guiding the program’s continued development and success.
The successful candidate will also teach courses in the Surveying and Geomatics program within the Department of Construction of the School of Engineering. Teaching assignments may include online, evening, weekend, and satellite courses. Summer assignments are available subject to enrollment and funding.
The successful candidate will:
- Provide strategic leadership and daily management for the Surveying and Geomatics Program, including curriculum oversight, assessment, scheduling, and program development.
- Teach undergraduate and certificate program courses in surveying and geomatics, integrating practical field knowledge with classroom instruction.
- Mentor and advise students, fostering their academic and professional growth.
- Recruit, supervise, and support faculty and staff within the program.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with industry, professional organizations, and community stakeholders.
- Ensure the program meets and maintains accreditation standards and reflects current technologies and practices in the surveying profession.
- Manage program budgets, resources, and marketing/outreach efforts to promote enrollment and visibility.
- Represent SIUE’s Surveying Program at professional conferences, regional events, and advisory boards.
