Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to support the production of laboratory reagents in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for supporting the laboratory in preparing, labeling, and packaging reagents in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality guidelines. This role would also be responsible for preparing and shipping orders for clients. The ideal candidate is dependable, precise, and comfortable following structured processes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and produce chemical reagents and solutions following established formulas and SOPs
- Measure, weigh, and mix raw materials with accuracy and consistency
- Label, package, and organize finished reagent products
- Maintain detailed production records and batch documentation
- Perform basic quality checks to ensure product accuracy and consistency
- Clean and maintain laboratory equipment and production areas
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and notify management of shortages
- Receive new inventory and utilize inventory management software
- Prepare and package client orders for shipment
- Follow all safety, regulatory, and compliance standards (OSHA, GMP, etc.)
- Properly handle and dispose of chemical and hazardous waste
- Support continuous improvement efforts in production processes
- Assist in other areas of the laboratory when needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- At least 1 year of previous experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, or production environment is a plus
- Ability to follow detailed written instructions and procedures (SOPs)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements
- Comfortable working with chemicals and laboratory equipment
- Basic math and computer skills (data entry, documentation)
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
Preferred Skills
- Experience with reagent or chemical preparation
- Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and ISO (International Organization for Standardization) or regulated environments
- Experience managing inventory
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
- Detail oriented, strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently while meeting production targets
Work Environment
- Laboratory or production setting
- Requires standing for extended periods
- Exposure to chemicals, laboratory equipment, and manufacturing processes
- Exposure to dry ice and other coolants
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required
· Ability to climb stairs, lift 35lbs, sit or stand for long periods, and walk/bend down
· Visual and auditory acuity and good eye/hand coordination
Pay: $20.00 per hour
