Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals with precision, and approximating how much food is needed for the children each day.
- Assist in menu planning to ensure diverse and appealing meal options that meet dietary needs and preferences.
- Maintain strict food safety standards by following sanitizing procedures, proper food handling practices, and sanitation protocols to ensure a hygienic kitchen environment.
- Support dietary department operations by assisting with meal assembly, portioning, and presentation for children.
- Clean kitchen areas thoroughly, including equipment, utensils, and surfaces, adhering to food safety management guidelines.
- Support catering events or special meal services by preparing ingredients and assisting with serving as needed.
- Be punctual and professional during working hours.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation within a restaurant or food industry setting, or experience with food preparation.
- Strong knowledge of food safety procedures, sanitizing practices, and hygiene standards.
- Familiarity with menu planning
- Experience or willingness to learn portions per state regulations
- Ability to make a grocery list, order what is needed, and pick it up for each week
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in both cooking and cleaning tasks.
