Georgia Pre-K Assistant Teacher
Position Schedule
- School Year Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Follows the local school calendar during the academic year.
- Additional work opportunities may be available during school breaks, holidays, and summer programs.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess at least ONE of the following Georgia Pre-K approved credentials:
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential
- Georgia Paraprofessional Certificate
- Technical Certificate of Credit (TCC) in Early Childhood Education
- Technical College Diploma (TCD) in Early Childhood Education
- Associate Degree (AA, AS, AAS, or AAT)
- Bachelor's Degree (BA or BS)
- Master's Degree (MA or MS)
- Georgia Professional Standards Commission (PSC) Certified Teacher Credential
- Montessori Diploma from a MACTE-accredited program
- Specialist Degree or Doctorate
Additional Requirements
- Must be eligible for employment in a Georgia Pre-K classroom.
- Must successfully pass all required background checks.
- Must be able to actively supervise, engage with, and assist preschool-aged children throughout the day.
- Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, and participate in classroom and playground activities.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing the Georgia Pre-K curriculum and Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards (GELDS).
- Support classroom management and positive behavior guidance.
- Supervise children during classroom activities, meals, playground time, and transitions.
- Prepare classroom materials and assist with daily lesson implementation.
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.
- Communicate professionally with families, children, and coworkers.
- Participate in required trainings, meetings, and professional development opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with preschool-aged children.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Passion for early childhood education and kindergarten readiness.
Pay: $17.00 per hour
