Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with achieving their personal goals and maintaining a safe, supportive environment. The ideal candidate will be committed to enhancing the quality of life for those served through attentive caregiving, effective communication, and adherence to care plans. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring long-term support and assistance.
Duties
- Provide personalized assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Monitor residents’ health status by observing vital signs and overall condition while reporting any concerns promptly.
- Assist with medication administration following prescribed protocols and maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality.
- Support residents during meals by preparing nutritious food, assisting with eating as needed, and ensuring proper dietary requirements are met.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning resident areas and ensuring sanitation standards are upheld.
- Engage residents in social activities and therapeutic programs designed to promote socialization, cognitive function, and emotional well-being.
- Document care activities accurately while adhering to privacy regulations such as HIPPA.
Requirements
CANDIDATE MUST BE FLEXIBLE AND WILLING TO WORK DAY AND EVENING SHIFTS, SOME OVERNIGHT AND SOME WEEKEDS
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs monitoring, and basic patient care procedures.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate patient transfer equipment such as Hoyer lifts as needed.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work compassionately with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorders.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of protected health information (PHI).
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record may be required depending on the scope of community-based services offered.
- Level 2 Background Screening required.
