Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Buyer Analyst to join our procurement and supply chain team supporting Electro-Mechanical’s OEM Products Division. In this role, you will be responsible for compiling and analyzing purchasing data, issuing purchase orders, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials required for production.
The Buyer Analyst plays a critical role in maintaining optimal inventory levels, supporting production schedules, and strengthening supplier relationships. By leveraging ERP data, monitoring supplier performance, and collaborating with internal departments, you will help drive operational efficiency and support the company’s ability to meet customer delivery commitments.
This position reports directly to the Director of Purchasing and plays a vital role in supporting manufacturing operations through effective procurement strategies and supplier management.
ResponsibilitiesProcurement & Purchase Order Management
- Issue and manage purchase orders to approved suppliers to support manufacturing requirements.
- Create and maintain Blanket Purchase Orders with predetermined pricing, freight terms, and contract periods.
- Release material orders under blanket agreements through the Quantum ERP system, ensuring accurate tracking and sequential order releases.
- Compare pricing, specifications, and delivery schedules to ensure the best value for the organization.
Inventory & Materials Planning
- Analyze Material Requirements Planning (MRP) reports and other system-generated data to determine production material needs.
- Monitor inventory levels and place orders based on supplier lead times to prevent shortages while maintaining inventory levels within established budgets.
- Provide input to the Director of Purchasing regarding ideal inventory levels based on usage, pricing, availability, logistics, and market conditions.
- Assist in annual physical inventory and other inventory counts as requested by operations leadership.
Supplier Management & Collaboration
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers through regular communication and occasional site visits.
- Follow up with suppliers on receiving discrepancies and nonconformance reports identified by receiving or quality teams.
- Conduct biannual supplier scorecards to monitor supplier performance and compliance with quality standards.
- Connect suppliers with engineering teams to explore opportunities for product design improvements and cost efficiencies.
Operational & Strategic Support
- Monitor Open Purchase Order Commitments reports to ensure materials are received on schedule and proactively resolve delays.
- Reschedule, expedite, or cancel orders based on changing production requirements.
- Communicate regularly with production control and area managers to provide updates on material shortages and procurement status.
- Develop and execute cost savings initiatives aligned with purchasing department goals.
- Support service contracts associated with facility equipment maintenance and repair parts procurement.
Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure adherence to corporate purchasing policies and procedures.
- Maintain compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards related to purchasing processes.
- Assist in updating and maintaining ISO documentation related to the purchasing department.
- Participate in data cleanup and system optimization projects to improve purchasing processes and reporting accuracy.
RequirementsEducation
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Additional education or relevant experience may be considered at the discretion of the Director of Purchasing and Human Resources.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of purchasing experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with ERP systems and MRP-based procurement processes (Quantum or similar systems preferred).
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Solid understanding of inventory control, supply chain planning, and procurement processes.
- Ability to interpret ERP data and purchasing reports to make informed sourcing decisions.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate across production, engineering, logistics, and supplier partners.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
