Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Children’s Ministry Leader to inspire and nurture the spiritual growth of children within our community (est. 10-12 hours per week). As a Children’s Ministry Leader, you will serve as a positive role model, mentor young hearts, and collaborate with families, volunteers and church staff to develop meaningful activities that promote Christian values. Your energetic leadership will help cultivate a joyful, inclusive atmosphere where children feel loved, supported, and encouraged to explore their faith.
Duties
- Plan, organize, and lead age-appropriate Sunday school classes (10am) and children's church hour (9am & 11am), along with special children’s events (Easter Egg Hunt, Vacation Bible School, etc.) that align with biblical teachings.
- Develop creative lesson plans that incorporate storytelling, music, arts and crafts, and interactive activities to engage children actively in their faith journey.
- Coordinate volunteer teams for children’s programs, ensuring program activities are safe, inclusive, and enriching for every child.
- Foster strong communication with parents and guardians by sharing updates on children’s progress and upcoming events.
- Oversee and support the Nursery Coordinator, who serves children under five on Sundays.
- Attend weekly staff meetings (currently Tuesday afternoons) and other administrative tasks related to the Children's Ministry role.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in planning and executing children’s activities to promote spiritual growth.
- Strong communication skills to effectively connect with children, parents, and church staff.
- Ability to recruit and supervise volunteers within the church family.
- Available to work in-person on Sundays and religious holidays.
- Highly organized, efficient and effective, with high standards.
- Competency in Google Workspace (e.g., docs, sheets, slides, forms).
- Ability to pass a reference check and periodic criminal history checks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience in Christian church or nonprofit children’s ministry leadership.
Physical Requirements
- Lift, carry or move tables, chairs, supplies, decor, etc. in a children’s classroom or at children’s events (e.g., Easter Egg Hunt, Vacation Bible School, Trunk-or-Treat).
- Lift or carry small children when necessary.
- Speak in public settings.
- Perform general office tasks relevant to the role.
