Essential Functions
- Acts as a liaison between transportation, schools, the district, and parents/students for the purpose of facilitating student management, discipline action and support.
- Conducts investigations of alleged violations of district policy and procedures for the purpose of determining appropriate student interventions, behavior plans, and/or discipline outcomes (e.g., reviewing camera recording, conduct student and employee interviews, etc
).
- Asesses student behavior or conditions on bus or at bus stops that have potential to lead to unsafe or disruptive incidents; ensures communication of concerns of inappropriate behavior to parents and school officials; recommends strategies and implements preventative measures.
- Communicates with drivers and other stakeholders (e.g., parents, school officials, etc
) for the purpose of assisting with route related conduct and discipline concerns and preventative strategies.
- Assists the Safety and Training team with employee trainings and in-service activities related to student management.
- Supports drivers with training, mentoring and providing strategies and preventative measures that can assist with any student behavior concerns; Conducts bus route shadowing to support in gathering necessary information to provide strategies and preventative measures as a resource.
- Maintains a variety of confidential and non-confidential information records (e.g., data of school bus incident reports, behavior intervention plans, progressive discipline records, documentation of training, etc
).
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., students, parents, school officials, and transportation personnel, etc
) for the purpose of accessing incidents, preventative measures and outcomes.
- Answers questions from internal and external parties (e.g. staff, parents, students, public agencies, etc.) for the purpose of providing student management information, policies and procedures.
- Attends and participates in district and department meetings/trainings, including student IEP meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform essential functions.
- Collects data for the purpose of preparing reports and/or processing forms.
- Communicates with drivers and others (e.g. responding to inquiries and investigates, etc.) for the purpose of assisting with student management concerns.
- Maintains manual and electronic documents files and records (e.g. letters, forms, reports, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date information and/or historical reference in accordance with established administrative guidelines and legal requirements.
- Prepares written materials (e.g. incident reports, activity logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
- Prepares documents and reports (e.g. incident reports, activity logs, form letters and memos, calendars, bulletins, periodic reports, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information to other parties and/or agencies.
- Processes documents and materials (e.g. incident reports, student management plans, policies, etc.) for the purpose of providing required information.
- Reviews incidents including injuries, altercations, suspicious activities, rule violations, etc. to appropriate site personnel for the purpose of ensuring follow-up in accordance with administrative, site security and student safety guidelines.
- Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources regarding transportation safety issues for the purpose of providing information, direction and/or referral for addressing inquiry.
- Reviews student behavior during transportation operations (e.g. cameras, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring student compliance with established guidelines, maintaining a safe, secure and positive transportation environment.
- Attends meetings as required and recommended that are related to student behavior management plans; attends court hearings and/or trials involving transportation-related student discipline concerns.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records.; adhering to safety practices and procedures; applying job-related policy, regulations and laws; classifying data and/or information; conflict resolution skills.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: concepts of grammar and punctuation; common office machines; office methods and practices.; age appropriate behavior; job-related codes/laws/rules/regulations/policies; key-boarding; knowledge of community resources; recordkeeping and record retention practices; Zonar, Easy Bus, and Transfinder software; school safety and security practices; knowledge of child/adolescent development; knowledge of relevant federal and state laws and regulations; knowledge of district policies and procedures surrounding student discipline and transportation.

Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 25% sitting, 25% walking, and 50% standing. The job is performed in a generally hazard free environment.
Experience Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
Education High school diploma or equivalent.
