ROLE DESCRIPTION: To implement and maintain GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) ensuring food safety, quality, conformity, and reliability in a cost-effective manner to Cooper Tea Company and Third Street, Inc. manufacturing and co-manufacturing sites.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Execute and implement of GFSI programs and Quality Manual
· Execute and implement systematic guidelines for following good manufacturing practice guidelines.
· Manage GFSI programs and Quality Manual such that the integrity of raw materials, packaging materials and Finished Goods are met.
· Manage GFSI programs and Quality audits such that the integrity of programs are met, as judged by 3rd party audits. Up to 12 more audits per year.
· Maintain, monitor and implementation of quality calendar such that GFSI and Quality deadlines and requirements are achieved at or ahead of schedule.
· Maintain, monitor and improve the identity preserved programs (Halal, non-GMO, Gluten Free, Organic and additional programs that may be onboarded)
· Responsible for gluten-free and allergen in-house quality testing.
· Implement and maintain HACCP based food safety plans
· Maintain and implement SQF System relevant to our SQF 2 certification.
· Trouble shoot and assess root cause analysis (RCA) for preventative and corrective actions (PACA)
· Conduct regular internal audits for compliance.
· Ensure FSVP and CTPAT procedures are followed as outlined in the company’s programs.
· Daily production floor presence.
· Collaborate with Manufacturing Manager to ensure compliance in the following areas:
o Hazard and risk analysis
o Quality management systems
o Facility management and formulation of manufacturing operations strategies
o Good operating practices
· Collaborate with Procurement and Marketing Manager to ensure compliance in the following areas:
o Supplier management
o Raw Materials and Packaging Materials
o Artwork and meeting FDA Label compliance
· Collaborate with Logistics Manager to ensure compliance in the following areas:
o Finished product management.
o Warehouse quality management.
· Manage and mentor Quality Technician
· Mentor manufacturing and R&D employees.
· Maintain records and documentation as required.
· Educate and instruct employees on the various protocols that meet the needs of the GFSI programs and Quality Manual
· Interface with Sales to support new product research & development.
· Support R&D protocols with science-based approach and structure for maximum effectiveness and adherence to GFSI structure.
· Maintain Quality budgets in collaboration with accounting team.
· Work with contract engineers and 3rd party consultants to develop and improve GFSI programs and Quality systems. Including but not limited to process authority, SQF consultant etc…
· Administer certification, regulatory storage & production requirements, including:
· Oversee the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the SQF System, including food safety fundamentals and the food safety plan.
· Take appropriate short term corrective actions and long-term preventive actions to ensure the integrity of the SQF System
· Communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System.
· Assess new and emerging issues in food safety, quality, regulatory, and biosecurity and their impacts.
· Participate in selection of appropriate materials and suppliers for new product development.
· Assist in lab functions, including but not limited to, quality testing, preparation of tasting samples and lab batches.
· Serves as back up for other operational functions.
· Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
· Detail oriented with strong process discipline, analytical skills and problem-solving capability.
· Ability to multi-task.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office, web-based portals, and tele-communications technologies.
· Safe quality Foods’s certification and FDA compliance experience preferred.
· Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred
· Employee must frequently lift, move, pack and carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
· Employee must be able to balance, kneel and crouch to work in office, production and warehouse environments.
Experience & Education Required:
· Four (4) or more years of experience directly related to quality and/or operational compliance functions.
· Experience in beverage or food manufacturing environments preferred.
· Science based Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
· HACCP certified.
· PCQI certified.
· SQF Practitioner certified or ability to achieve.
· Better Process Control certified or ability to achieve.
· FSVP or ability to achieve.
· CTPAT certification a plus
Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
