Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Dump Truck Driver to join our dynamic logistics team. In this role, you will operate heavy-duty dump trucks to transport and deliver materials efficiently across various job sites and routes. Your expertise in commercial truck driving, adherence to safety regulations, and ability to handle diverse cargo will ensure smooth operations and timely deliveries. Duties
- Safely operate dump trucks, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers, following all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations
- Load and unload freight with precision, ensuring cargo is secured properly for transportation
- Navigate complex routes using GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules efficiently
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery records in accordance with FMCSA regulations
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips; perform manual handling tasks for cargo loading and unloading as needed
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols during over-the-road (OTR) driving routes and local deliveries
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving and delivery driving
- Strong knowledge of truck loading and unloading procedures, including freight handling and logistics cargo handling
- Familiarity with various trailer types such as flatbed, tanker, refrigerated trailer, and specialized equipment for automobile transportation
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently and handle manual handling tasks safely
- Excellent navigation skills utilizing GPS systems for efficient route planning on OTR routes
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards for trucking operations
- Experience with truck driving certifications such as CDL (Commercial Driver’s License), Hazmat endorsement preferred but not required
- Capable of maintaining professionalism under pressure while adhering to safety standards during long-distance trips or local deliveries
