American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a community hospital in Fishers, IN, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and active Cerner proficiency.

Work in the sole Med/Surg unit of a community hospital, serving patients from the OR, ED, and ICU/PCU downgrades
-
Patient population includes post-surgical, ED, and step-down patients with an average of 8–12 admits per 24-hour period
-
Target patient ratio is 5:1 with charge out of staffing; flexing to 6:1 is possible

Charting is performed in Cerner (experience required)

Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)

Every other weekend (EOW) coverage required
-
Floating may occur to accommodate Med/Surg patient holds in the ICU, PCU, or ED, though it is not common
-
13-week contract
-
Active Indiana or Compact RN license currently in hand — pending licenses are not accepted

Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required

Current BLS certification (AHA or RQI accepted)

NIHSS certification preferred
-
Cerner charting experience required
-
Nursing degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited program required

SSN and DOB required for consideration

2 supervisor professional references required

First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided they meet the 2-year experience requirement

Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays

Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved

Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have a 12-month gap before applying as a traveler

Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health are required to take a consecutive break to reset eligibility: out-of-state residents need a 90-day break, and in-state residents need a 180-day break
