Van Driver – Job Summary
Schuylkill County Transportation Authority (STS) is seeking a reliable, safety-conscious Van Driver to transport passengers throughout Schuylkill County, including individuals with disabilities. The Van Driver operates agency vehicles according to assigned routes and schedules while providing safe, courteous, and professional service to our passengers.
Essential Duties:
- Safely transport passengers according to assigned routes and schedules.
- Assist passengers with boarding, exiting, and mobility needs.
- Complete required vehicle inspections, driver logs, and other documentation.
- Secure mobility devices and assist passengers with disabilities as needed.
- Follow all traffic laws, safety procedures, and STS policies.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
- Minimum age of 25 years.
- At least 3 years of driving experience in the U.S., including 2 years with a Class C license.
- Acceptable motor vehicle record under applicable qualification standards.
- Ability to meet DOT physical requirements and the physical demands of the position, including assisting passengers and mobility devices.
- Ability to work reliably and maintain assigned schedules.
- Must be able to successfully complete required background, driving, and drug/alcohol testing.
Safety-Sensitive Position: This position is safety sensitive and subject to applicable DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements.
CDL Requirements: Full-time Van Drivers may be required to obtain a Pennsylvania CDL with appropriate endorsements, as determined by STS. Additional required training may also be provided.
Physical Requirements: The position requires the ability to sit for extended periods, climb steps, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, lift, and assist passengers, including passengers using wheelchairs.
