Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to maintain optimal oral health for patients.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
- Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation review in compliance with HIPAA regulations and EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems.
- Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a sterile environment.
Qualifications
- Valid license as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current state certification.
- Proficiency in dental terminology, medical coding, and documentation review for accurate record keeping.
- Experience with dental office software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices and experience working with pediatric patients is a plus.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, medical terminology, infection control standards, and aseptic techniques.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively and communicate clearly.
- Prior experience in general dentistry or dental clinic environments is desirable; familiarity with EMR systems is advantageous.
