Legal Secretary
Established law office seeking an organized, detail-oriented Legal Secretary to join our plaintiff's personal injury law firm. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, excellent organizational abilities, and the capacity to manage deadlines in a timely manner.
This law office carefully selects each case it accepts in order to maintain a manageable workload and provide quality representation to its clients. While the caseload is not overwhelming, the position requires strong attention to detail, organization, accountability, and active engagement in all necessary aspects of case handling from inception through trial or settlement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for cases from inception through trial or settlement
- Prepare initial case pleadings
- Draft correspondence and legal pleadings
- Prepare, respond to, and propound discovery
- Calendar hearings, court dates, and litigation deadlines
- Electronically file legal documents with state and federal courts
- Maintain accurate and precise records and case files
- Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and insurance personnel
- Assist attorneys with daily case management and administrative support
- Conduct legal and factual research as needed
Qualifications and Skills:
- Prior experience (1-4 years) in a law office preferred
- Knowledge of legal terminology and court procedures
- Experience with electronic filing systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, PDF software, and legal calendaring systems
- Knowledge of Mac operating systems preferred
- Experience with Journal Technologies preferred
- Excellent recordkeeping and accounting skills required
- Strong research, organizational, and multitasking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
