GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Responsible to assist in the overall health and safety of the Taplin Companies employees and clients.
OVERSITE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- As a Health and Safety Coordinator you can expect to coordinate small to large size projects, and serve as the support to our various divisions.
- Become an integral part of our team and spend quality time in the office when not engaged in client activities out of the office or performing duties on the launch of new projects.
- Understand the Taplin Companies organization and build an internal network of relationships so as to serve our clients and our internal corporate needs.
- Develops and plans procedures and programs to meet the specific safety needs of the Taplin
- Maintains records of training activities and employee programs, monitoring their effectiveness.
- Maintaining employees training certification expiration dates and scheduling employees for recertification.
- Ensures that safety programs are in compliance with all federal, state and local laws and regulations.
- Maintains records and reporting systems on lost time accidents and property losses
- Coordinates safety activities of Project Mangers to ensure effective implementation of safety activities throughout the organization.
- Interacts with supervisors and workers in order to identify and correct unsafe conditions or work practices.
- Identifies loss producing conditions and practices, recommending appropriate corrective action
- Participates in activities of related professional organizations to update knowledge of safety program developments.
- May develop training manuals and training aids, and Health & Safety manuals for division use.
- Mentor as needed
- Support and comply with all components of ELKS safety program
- Provide ELKS safety training to all new personnel
- Regular reliable and physical attendance is an essential function of this position

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
· Must be able to work with little guidance and supervision
· Clean driving record as determined by the Company’s current auto insurance carrier
· Team-focused and possess a solution-based work approach
· 40 hour Hazwoper, OSHA 30 hour preferred, but will provide training if necessary
· Proficient in the use of Microsoft office, excellent with both Word and Excel.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Must successfully complete a Respirator certification physical examination
· Must pass Hazardous Waste Operations physical as defined by 29CFR1910.120
· Able to wear a respirator
· Able to stand, sit and walk for long periods of time
· Able to bend at the waist to reach within 6" of the ground and reach overhead
· Able to climb ladders and stairs without difficulty
· Must have manual dexterity sufficient for use of small hand tools, handling of small parts (e.g. nuts/bolts), and working with hands at various positions
· No medical condition or impairment which would place the employee at increased risk in the event of an exposure to chemical agents
· No psychological or physical impairments that may present a safety risk to the employee and co-workers
· Able to lift, carry, push and pull equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. with another employee’s assistance
· Good vision and hearing
· Drug free
EDUCATIONAL / CERTIFICATION REQUIRMENTS:
- Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent experience 5 years of experience in projects involving remedial actions
