Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional/IHS Worker to join our dedicated team in providing exceptional care and support to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Duties
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors
- Provide personal transportation assistance for appointments, community outings, or errands using a standard passenger car
- Collect data on client progress, behaviors, and service outcomes to inform care plans and report to supervisors
- Administer medication following prescribed protocols and document all medication-related activities accurately
- Engage clients in recreational activities, social skills development, and skill-building exercises tailored to individual needs
Requirements
- Experience working with individuals with autism, neurodevelopmental disorders, or cognitive disabilities is highly preferred
- Knowledge of special education principles and behavioral health practices is beneficial
- Ability to operate a standard passenger car safely and responsibly for client transportation needs
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and collaboration with team members
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required or obtainable upon hire
- Prior experience in home & community care or caregiving roles supporting individuals with disabilities is advantageous
- Ability to assist with personal care tasks and support clients in achieving independence in daily routines
- Reliable transportation for job duties involving client outings or home visits
