Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with check-in and check-out procedures
- Manage appointment scheduling using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance claims processing using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Collect payments, process medical billing, and perform accurate documentation review in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Maintain and update patient records in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems including eClinicalWorks and other EMR platforms
- Answer multi-line phone systems professionally, providing excellent patient service and appointment coordination
- Assist with medical and dental administrative support tasks such as filing, data entry, and managing medical records
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or Dental Receptionist with clinic or dental office experience
- Strong knowledge of health insurance procedures including verification, Medicare, Medicaid, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and medical billing practices
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft or similar platforms
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; proficiency in typing and 10-key operations
- Exceptional phone etiquette with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently
- Knowledge of dental terminology and medical terminology for accurate documentation and communication
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies (HIPAA compliance)
- Bilingual skills are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and office management tasks
