THE POSITION
Join the Department of Corrections (DOC) as a Licensed Psychologist Manager, Corrections and lead essential psychological services at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Somerset. This role places you at the center of critical clinical decisions that support stability and responsible care within a secure facility. You guide evaluations, treatment strategies, and staff development that directly influence the well-being and adjustment of inmates. Your expertise strengthens rehabilitation efforts and helps maintain a professional, dependable environment for staff and those in custody.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position manages psychological services programs and oversees clinical work performed by staff at SCI Somerset. As a Licensed Psychologist Manager, Corrections, you will perform the following duties:
- Staff Supervision: Direct psychological staff by overseeing evaluations, screenings, counseling, and crisis intervention
- Program Management: Develop and integrate policies and procedures that guide psychological services and counseling programs
- Committee Leadership: Lead review teams responsible for mental health assessments and critical incident evaluations
- Clinical Review: Evaluate diagnostic tests and prepare or review detailed reports on inmate mental health status
- Consultation Support: Advise staff on treatment approaches and participate in meetings to review inmate adjustment and care plans
- Accreditation Oversight: Ensure compliance with standards and provide expert testimony when required

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Licensed Psychologist MH or Psychologist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- One year of experience as a licensed professional psychologist in the treatment of inmates or individuals with mental illness, intellectual disabilities or behavioral dysfunction.
Special Requirements:
- You must be in possession of a valid license to practice psychology as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology or possession of a valid license to practice psychology as issued by another state with licensure requirements acceptable to the Board. Applicants with out-of-state licensure must obtain Pennsylvania licensure within one year of employment.
