Job Summary:
A Budtender is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while educating adult-use cannabis consumers on products, consumption methods, and responsible use in accordance with New York State regulations. Budtenders ensure compliance with all state laws, maintain accurate inventory practices, and create a welcoming, professional retail environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly, knowledgeable, and professional manner.
- Verify customer age and identification in compliance with New York State cannabis regulations.
- Educate customers on cannabis products, including flower, pre-rolls, concentrates, vaporizers, edibles, tinctures, topicals, and accessories.
- Recommend products based on customer preferences, desired effects, tolerance, and experience while avoiding medical claims.
- Process sales accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system and ensure all transactions comply with state regulations.
- Maintain product knowledge by staying current on new products, brands, and state compliance updates.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the sales floor and workstations.
- Follow all security, safety, and compliance procedures established by management and New York State regulations.
- Report inventory discrepancies, customer concerns, and operational issues to management promptly.
- Participate in ongoing training and team meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Ability to legally work in the United States.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Basic computer and POS system proficiency.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous retail, hospitality, or customer service experience.
- Prior cannabis industry experience or cannabis product knowledge.
- Cash handling experience.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to bend, reach, squat, and perform repetitive motions.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
