Responsibilities
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories to inform personalized care plans.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following established protocols, including IV infusions and medication management.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner or Epic to document patient information meticulously and ensure seamless medical records management.
- Provide specialized care in areas such as ICU, trauma medicine, cardiology procedures like catheterization, or ophthalmology treatments including botulinum toxin therapy.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations, specimen collection/processing, and laboratory testing to support accurate diagnoses.
- Implement aseptic techniques during procedures like suturing or sterile dressing changes to prevent infection and promote healing.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in emergency medicine, hospice & palliative care, behavioral health, or geriatrics to coordinate comprehensive patient services.
Skills
- Proven experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those requiring memory care.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth for efficient documentation and patient tracking.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and laboratory procedures.
- Skilled in critical care practices including ventilator management, airway management, trauma response (Level I & II trauma centers), and ICU experience.
- Expertise in pain management techniques, acute pain assessment, and chronic disease management across various specialties like internal medicine or family practice.
- Ability to perform complex procedures such as catheterization (urinary or vascular), tube feeding management, phlebotomy, venipuncture, and ostomy care.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education on health coaching topics like medication administration or discharge planning while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
