Manufacturing Execution System Engineer Position Summary
The MES Engineer is responsible for developing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing Manufacturing Execution System (MES) processes to support production operations, traceability, quality control, and customer requirements. This role designs and manages MES workflows, barcode and labeling systems, serial number tracking, production data collection, and manufacturing reporting.
The MES Engineer works closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, IT, and customers to ensure accurate production tracking, complete product traceability, and reliable manufacturing system performance. This position supports new product introductions (NPI), production launches, process improvements, and daily manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure and optimize MES process flow for packaging section according to packaging technology, production procedure and customer traceability requirements, including work order circulation, process control, package hierarchy, carton-pallet binding and batch traceability. Support NPI MES modeling and online verification for new products.
- Responsible for MES template design, modification, version control and permission management of all barcodes, QR codes, product labels, carton labels and pallet labels in packaging area. Align with customer label specifications to ensure label format and traceability fields fully meet shipment standards.
- Responsible for daily operation monitoring of MES system in the packaging workshop. Solve on-site MES abnormalities such as production reporting, scanning, carton packing, warehousing, label printing and process skipping. Ensure stable line operation and complete production data without missing or error records.
- Verify and correct abnormal production data, packing data and shipping data of packaging section. Develop daily reports, yield reports, abnormality reports and traceability reports to support quality improvement and production review. Ensure full traceability of batch, material, machine and operator data.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience supporting Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience configuring or supporting MES systems, production tracking systems, or manufacturing databases.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, production workflows, and traceability requirements.
- Experience with barcode systems, labeling systems, and serial number tracking.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to work with production teams and translate manufacturing requirements into system configurations.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in electronics, automotive, medical device, aerospace, or contract manufacturing environments.
- Experience MES integration.
- Knowledge of SQL databases and manufacturing data structures.
- Experience with SAP, Siemens Opcenter, FactoryTalk MES, Tulip, Plex, Critical Manufacturing, or similar MES platforms.
- Understanding of ISO 9001 quality systems and manufacturing traceability requirements.
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) processes.
Physical Requirements

- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and systems at manufacturing workstations.
