Accounting Manager
Position Summary
A defense litigation firm in Long Island, New York, is seeking an experienced Accountant to oversee the Firm's day-to-day bookkeeping and financial operations while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of its financial records.This position is responsible for managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, financial reporting, and other core bookkeeping functions that support the Firm's financial health. The Accountant will serve as the Firm's primary bookkeeping professional and work closely with firm leadership, attorneys, administrative staff, and the Firm's CPA to ensure financial operations are accurate, organized, compliant, and executed efficiently.

What We Expect You To Do
Financial Management & Recordkeeping
● Manage the Firm's general ledger and financial accounting records.
● Work closely with the Firm's CPA to manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and financial reporting systems, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
● Prepare or oversee the preparation of recurring and adjusting journal entries.
● Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the Firm's financial accounting systems.
● Perform general ledger, bank account, and credit card reconciliations.
● Conduct monthly expense analysis.
● Oversee monthly and year-end closing activities.
● Manage the month-end close process, including reconciliations and preparation of monthly financial statements.
● Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements and management reports.
Accounts Payable & Cash Receipts
● Process and pay Firm bills in a timely and accurate manner.
● Post cash receipts and ensure payments are properly recorded.
● Ensure client expenses are accurately charged to client accounts for reimbursement.
● Assist with other accounts payable responsibilities as needed.
● Perform daily banking activities
Payroll
● Manage the Firm's payroll function, ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on schedule.
Billing & Collections
● Supervise the Firm's billing and collection efforts.
● Monitor billing and collection activities and work with attorneys and leadership to support timely collections.
Leadership & Collaboration
● Work closely with the Partners and other members of the management team to support the Firm's financial operations and organizational objectives.
What You Should Have
Required Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in accounting
● Minimum of four (4) years of bookkeeping experience.
● Accounting and/or bookkeeping experience within a law firm.
● Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
● Experience with legal billing and practice management software.
● Strong proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
● Ability to work independently and with a team.
Compensation and Benefits
● Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 annually.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
