American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position on a night shift schedule, requiring active telemetry experience and a NC or compact RN license.

A7 West General Medicine unit in a large, 815-bed Magnet®-designated hospital on the Mission Campus in Asheville, NC
-
18-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit serving a general medical-surgical patient population
-
Patient ratio is 6:1; charge nurse is staffed out of ratio to assist the floor when possible
-
Night shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
-
Every other weekend required, or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
-
EMR: Cerner PowerChart
-
Equipment used includes Baxter IV pumps, wound vacs, SCDs, prima-fits, and primo-fits
-
Travelers are required to float to other medical/surgical units and the ED when holding med/surg patients
-
Travelers float before permanent staff
-
Active NC or compact RN license required
-
Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of start)

NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for Telemetry RNs

Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience in Med/Surg Telemetry required

Medical/surgical nursing experience required
-
Telemetry experience required
-
Charge nurse experience preferred
-
US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
-
No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
-
One professional reference required (two required for candidates from Florida or Missouri)

Typical duties include peripheral IV starts, dressing changes, and other standard medical/surgical nursing skills
-
Unit staffing on nights includes 1 charge RN, 2–3 RNs, 1 LPN, and 1–2 PCTs
-
The hospital is the region's only Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, and home to Mission Children's Hospital
-
Scrub color requirement: all navy, all white, or white top with navy pants; navy or white undershirts permitted
-
Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
