Summary
The Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, evaluating and implementing nursing care to all surgical patients at the ASC, meeting patient needs related to age, surgical condition and type of anesthesia administered. The RN engages in caring relationships with patients' families and support persons, works collaboratively with other health care workers, and uses sound judgments while performing nursing and medical interventions throughout the perioperative experience. The RN adheres to specialty standards and organizational standards, policies, procedures, guidelines and protocols. Reports to the Nurse Administrator. May participate in supervision of Licensed Nursing Assistants and unlicensed personnel.
Education
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
Certification, Registration & Licensure
- Required: Current State of OH RN License
- Required: American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS
Experience
- The Pre/Post-operative Staff Nurse must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and currently licensed to practice nursing in the state.
- A minimum of 4-years experience in acute care/ critical care/ PACU.
- Cardiac-monitored nursing care
- Must have the ability to work independently as well as function within a team; have the ability to assess patient needs, determine priorities, plan and direct pre/post-operative care of the patient; present good communication skills; and possess the ability to handle stress.
