Lakeview Academy seeks a friendly, warm, and collaborative faculty member to serve as the school’s next Lower School Librarian for the 2026 – 2027 school year. The Lower School Librarian serves as the heart of the Lower School learning community by creating a welcoming and engaging library environment that inspires curiosity and fosters a lifelong love of reading. The Lower School Librarian oversees all aspects of library operations and collection development while ensuring the library remains a vibrant hub for learning, exploration, and connection.
Position Description:
- Full-Time; 7:45-3:45
- Duties begin August 2026
- 10-month contract, paid out over 12 months
- Reports to Lower School Director
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Library Science or related field
- Preferred 3+ years of experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create a welcoming and engaging library environment that inspires curiosity, exploration, and a lifelong love of reading.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to design and deliver library lessons that enrich and support classroom learning.
- Curate, maintain, and grow a dynamic library collection that meets the evolving interests and educational needs of students and faculty.
- Partner with the Technology Director to oversee and evaluate digital resources and databases that support teaching and learning.
- Teach and reinforce age-appropriate research, digital literacy, and inquiry skills.
- Use reading assessment data to help students discover books that match their interests, abilities, and reading goals.
- Plan and run the school’s fall and spring book fairs.
- Coordinate and oversee library volunteers and outreach, including the school’s Mystery Reader Program and student assistants.

Pay: $43,000.00 - $53,000.00 per year
