Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments in various specialties including dermatology, internal medicine, urgent care, and hospital medicine.
- Take and record vital signs accurately while assessing patient needs during intake.
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort.
- Collect specimens such as blood or urine for laboratory testing, including phlebotomy when necessary.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring precise medical documentation and coding (ICD coding).
- Support medical administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and maintaining medical records.
- Administer medications or injections under provider supervision following proper protocols and safety standards.
- Assist with hospital or outpatient procedures, including OR or PICU experiences when applicable.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment while adhering to infection control standards.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, coordinating follow-up care, and ensuring a positive experience.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program.
- Proven experience in medical office settings with knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and basic life support (BLS).
- Hands-on experience with electronic health records (EHR/EMR systems) and medical documentation practices.
- Familiarity with outpatient clinics, inpatient hospital environments, or specialty areas such as dermatology or geriatrics is preferred.
- Ability to perform phlebotomy and medication administration safely and accurately.
- Strong understanding of ICD coding, medical records management, and clinical procedures.
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to care delivery.
- Knowledge of hospital or Level I Trauma Center protocols is advantageous.
