The College of Science and Technology (COST) enrolls 2,514 students. CoST integrates science, mathematics, and technology to advance knowledge and prepare the next generation of science and technology leaders. The College embraces the mission of the University as a land-grant doctoral research institution with a distinction in STEM by expanding new frontiers in science, creating novel technologies, developing innovative approaches to STEM teaching and learning, and formulating scientific and technological solutions that lead to transformative social and economic development. The College houses the departments of Applied Engineering Technology, Biology, Built Environment, Chemistry, Computer Systems Technology, Mathematics and Statistics, Physics, and the Applied Science Technology PhD Program. The College is experiencing substantial growth in enrollment, faculty size, curricula, and research.
The Computer Systems Technology (CST) Department at North Carolina A&T State University has 10 full-time faculty members and offers BS, MS, and Ph.D. degrees. The department has a current enrollment of 477 undergraduate students, 77 master’s students, and 12 doctoral students. Faculty conduct research in cyber-physical systems, system security, machine learning in edge, bioelectric heart and brain monitoring, autonomous vehicle control, knowledge and discovery in big data, and wireless communications. The department has attracted funding from the National Science Foundation, the Department of Defense, the Department of Education, as well as various industries to support research and education.
