POSITION TITLE: Youth Minister
REPORTS TO: Faith Formation Coordinators of the Parishes
POSITION DETAIL: Part-time (15-20 hours per week)
The Youth Minister will collaborate with the Faith Formation coordinators of St John Bosco, St George, and St Margaret to serve the youth of all three parishes, primarily those in grades 7-12.
Duties and responsibilities
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Church
- Meet regularly with the Faith Formation coordinators and/or pastors of the three parishes to assess needs, share ideas, and plan events and communication.
- Launch the collaboration of our youth ministry programs by offering a series of Open Houses at each of the three parishes during the spring of 2026
o Coordinate communications about these events
o Help plan the materials and facilitate the events
o Reach out to youth and families at each parish to encourage attendance.
- Engage youth across the three parishes in meaningful faith-building, service, and fellowship events - for example:
o Bible Studies (5-12)
o Faith in Action (service based)
o Mission Trip (out of state for older teens and local for younger)
o Retreats (Confirmation Prep, Service, other?)
o Habitat-related Service projects
o Prayer Services, Adoration, etc.
- Engage/Recruit/Train volunteers across the three parishes to help facilitate and sustain these programs and events so that each parish feels invested and connected.
- Engage parents and families in youth ministry events/activities as possible.
- Work closely with the Confirmation Coordinator and confirmation students in the faith formation programs (gr 7-8) to engage and prepare them for parish youth ministry in the high school years.
- Help/Lead/Train the Peer Ministry group of teen leaders across the three parishes (post confirmation Gr 9-12). These teen leaders will model their faith in helping at Confirmation classes, Confirmation retreats, and other parish events that involve their peers and younger students in faith formation.
- Coordinate with Joshuah Kaye, Director of Youth Ministry at the Archdiocese of Hartford.
- Must submit to a background check and complete VIRTUS training.

Must possess strong knowledge of the Catholic faith.
- Experience in program development, leadership, and volunteer supervision.

- Ability to work collaboratively, prioritize responsibilities, and maintain confidentiality.
- Be a practicing member of a Catholic faith community.
- Provide both professional and personal references.
