Position: Clinical Counseling Intern
Location: Athens, Alabama and/or Huntsville, Alabama
Role Summary
Pearl Behavioral Health Services is seeking Master's-level counseling students who are completing their internship requirements as part of a CACREP-accredited or equivalent graduate counseling program. This in-person opportunity provides hands-on clinical experience serving children, adolescents, and adults in a supportive private practice setting.
Our internship program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to obtain up to 300 hours per semester, including direct client contact hours, supervision, documentation, case consultation, and other clinical activities required by their academic program.
Schedule
Flexible scheduling is available Monday through Thursday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Internship hours can be tailored to meet university requirements and the student's availability. We strive to accommodate class schedules, work commitments, and other obligations while providing opportunities to obtain up to 300 internship hours per semester.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Master's degree program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or a closely related counseling field
- Eligible for internship placement through an accredited university program
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Professional liability insurance (if required by university)
- Commitment to in-person clinical training in Athens and/or Huntsville, Alabama
- Strong professional communication and documentation skills
Primary Responsibilities
- Observe and participate in individual counseling sessions with clients ages 5 and older
- Conduct counseling sessions under supervision as approved by university and site requirements
- Complete clinical documentation in a HIPAA-compliant electronic health record system
- Participate in individual and group supervision
- Attend case consultation and treatment planning meetings
- Uphold ethical and professional counseling standards

We strive to provide a meaningful clinical learning experience that promotes professional growth, ethical practice, and confidence in working with diverse client populations. Most interns are able to obtain the majority or all of their required hours during a single semester.
