Financial Controller
The Financial Controller duties are to LEAD and manage the accounting team and all financial aspects of the business operations. Monitor the internal controls of a fast paced retail bedding company. The Financial Controller is responsible for banking and finance activities, including proper reporting, and reviewing of all taxing authorities and corporate documentation. A great candidate will be strategic in accounting management, impacting decision making, forecasting, and budgeting at the company level, based on accounting data. Most importantly, an ideal candidate will envision the bigger picture with desire to increase revenues and profits .
Responsibilities
· Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, General ledger activity, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition (Completeness and accuracy functions). Vendor communication is important.
· Responsible for month-end and year-end close processes and proper reconciliation.
· Prepare and publish monthly financial statements within 5 business days of Month End.
· Complete financial variance reports
· Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
· Research technical accounting issues for compliance
· Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
· Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
· Advise the President and the CEO management on cost analysis and budgets
· Illuminate trends and opportunities for the company.
· Cash management duties to include daily monitoring of available cash, investments opportunities, cash flow requirement, cash signing authority and other bank relations.
· Perform financial analysis to illuminate trends, risks, and opportunities at the project and corporate level
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or another related field
· 5-7 years experience as Controller
· Experience in managing a department in various accounting fields
· Strong financial analysis and mathematics skills
· Strong leadership and decision- making
· CPA Certification is a plus
· Storis POS and Quick Books experience preferred
· Corporate retail experience a plus
