Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including mental status examinations and diagnostic evaluations using EMR/EHR systems.
- Prescribe and manage medications in accordance with DEA regulations and collaborative practice agreements, ensuring safe and effective treatment plans.
- Provide psychotherapy, counseling, or medication management for patients across the lifespan, including children, geriatrics, and individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals across disciplines such as primary care, behavioral health, and specialty services like neurology or substance use treatment to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Utilize telehealth platforms to extend mental health services remotely, ensuring accessibility for all patients.
- Document all clinical encounters accurately in medical records while maintaining HIPAA compliance and safeguarding patient confidentiality.
- Participate in case management activities, discharge planning, and follow-up care to support long-term recovery and wellness.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with current state licensure.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, or individuals with complex psychiatric needs.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Athenahealth for documentation and clinical workflow management.
- Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology, diagnostic evaluation (ICD-10 coding), and medication administration protocols.
- Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams in settings like hospitals, clinics, or outpatient facilities; familiarity with hospital medicine or acute care environments is preferred.
- Ability to perform physical examinations and procedures such as venipuncture or injection administration when necessary.
- Excellent client communication skills with a focus on compassionate care and behavioral health support.
