Position Summary: The Dental Patient Services Representative Level II works on a regular basis as part of the front desk team. As one of the primary receptionists, the Dental Receptionist provides excellent, attentive customer service and provides day-to-day direction for the Level I receptionists and assigned interns or volunteers.
Program Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

In the absence of the Sr. Practice Manager-Dental, provides day-to-day direction for the Level I patient services representative and assigned interns or volunteers to ensure efficient, effective front desk operations.

Trains staff and assists with the on-going competencies of the front desk staff when requested.

Maintains provider schedules to ensure patient access.

Generates schedules, processes schedule changes and handles template changes as necessary.

Responds and follows-up on patient issues as directed.

Responsibilities include greeting visitors/patients, patient registration including insurance verifications, appointment scheduling, answering and handling incoming telephone calls.

Identifies need for translation services to facilitate patient visit

Accurately utilizes SDK computer registration system.

Advocates for patients and work with highly sensitive/confidential information

Has knowledge of Health Center services and payment policies.

Codes encounter form using ICD10 book. Enters codes and diagnosis in computer and charges all encounters for billing.

Participates in problem solving activities within the department and Health Center.

Sends/receives departmental correspondence, monitors waiting room area, makes outgoing calls for appointment verifications, and providing information about all FHCW services.

Responsible for collection of co-pays and patient balances at the time of service.

Understands types of insurance, verifies insurance ·

Oversees and assesses patient wait time. Handles information in confidential manner

Initiates/completes specialized documentation

Performs typing of correspondence, sorting, and delivery of mail, photocopying, filing, and retrieves medical records and x-ray/lab results.

Obtains prior approvals for visits

Any and all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
One of the following combinations of education and employment experience must be met in order to be considered for the position:
High School Diploma/GED required. Graduate of a medical office administration program or Associates degree preferred.
Two years of experience in a dental office including insurance verification, payment plans, provider schedules, data entry, and receptionist duties required.

Bilingual in English and another language appropriate to the patient population preferred, but not required.

Preferred candidate will have completed Medical Office Administration certification program.

Must possess good organizational skills and the ability to adhere to scheduling and billing deadlines. Proven ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
